Food Technology


Food lessons at Elmbridge encourage our pupils to understand and apply the principles of health and nutrition in practical engaging sessions. Each week pupils prepare either a savoury or sweet recipe from scratch using fresh ingredients.


Throughout the term, they will develop their cookery skills using different techniques and utensils whilst also being directly involved in the food preparation. The intent of the lesson is to provide our pupils with a valuable life skill alongside a deeper knowledge of food hygiene and safe practice.


The food technology sessions are flexible and sustainable and tries to incorporate recipes that use in season produce as well as dishes that reflect events on the cultural calendar. The recipes are also pupil led depending on current interests and ideas.
